A pledge to the Grand Coalition for Digital Jobs
As a follow-up of the Get Online Week campaign, Telecentre-Europe plans to support its national campaign partners to lead and facilitate Local Coalitions for Digital Jobs (LC4DJ) across Europe (i.e. local governments, industry, employment services, educational and social actors).
Telecentre-Europe will facilitate the development of Local Coalitions in ten European countries with a definite overall objective to respond to the European policy needs and expectations with local solutions, namely to cover themes like Awareness raising for youth on digital skills and jobs, ICT Training and/or ICT Certification.
The Local Coalitions will support at least 5,000 young people in at least 10 European countries
to ICT training or to access jobs.
Telecentre-Europe will build a common action plan to maximise synergies across countries, particularly focused on the engagement of industry actors and organisations operating in multiple countries across Europe.
This initiative has been launched at the Global Telecentre Forum – SPARK in Granada, May 2013 and will be formally announced at the Digital Agenda Assembly in Dublin, June 2013. Local Coalitions are expected to be fully operational by October 2013, with well-defined strategies and action plans. The activities in the first year will culminate with the Get online week campaign in 2014, and the first assessment of impact will happen with the occasion of the Digital Agenda Assembly in 2014.
Telecentre-Europe has already secured support from its member organizations and ICT industry (Microsoft) but we would like to invite other pledgers and other stakeholders to join us in the effort to take the Grand Coalition for Digital Jobs locally.
