Guidelines for teachers and educators on tackling disinformation and promoting digital literacy through education and training

13 Oct, 2022

On 11 October, Commissioner Mariya Gabriel announced the publication of Guidelines for teachers and educators, and the final report of the Commission’s Expert Group on tackling disinformation and promoting digital literacy through education and training. ALL DIGITAL was, together with 22 other highly experienced representatives of various stakeholders in the digital education community, a member of the expert group who, since the inaugural meeting on 13 October 2021, discussed, drafted, and approved the Guidelines and Report.

The Guidelines offer teachers and educators a document filled with hands-on practical tips and activity plans for the use in primary and secondary education, regardless of their experience in digital education. While containing concrete guidance and examples, the aim of the document is thereby not to prescribe fixed methods, but to provide inspiration and advice to be adapted to national, regional and local contexts. Raising awareness and understanding of disinformation, as well as fostering digital literacy in classrooms and schools, is a key task for all teachers and educators, and should be central components of teacher training courses.

The Guidelines and accompanying report is part of the Digital Education Action Plan (Action 9).
