Lizzy Bleumers has been conducting participatory design and user research to inform the development of new technology applications in media, entertainment and education since 2008. She believes innovation starts by looking at how people use technology, and that it is essential to involve various stakeholders in design processes and technology research to achieve a solution that is not only feasible, but also meaningful and viable. At Thomas More University of Applied Sciences, she coordinates the research spearhead ‘Digital media experiences’, which consider how innovative technologies such as extended reality and AI can be applied to support content makers and engage audiences. She is currently involved in the project Campus Lab that seeks to understand how new digital solutions can be tailored to young people, by involving students in the design process.
