He was recently awarded an honorary Doctorate of Laws (LLD) by Coventry University in recognition of his many peer-reviewed publications (more than 70), four books on ethics and data protection of advanced new technologies and his participation in many EU-funded projects, some of which involved Coventry. He was the coordinator of the CC-DRIVER project, which finished in April 2023, the sister project of RAYUELA. He is currently coordinating the ATHENA project on disinformation and other proposals involving Universidad Pontificia Comillas.
