The MCA is the national regulatory authority of the communications sector in Malta. The authority regulates electronic communications, eCommerce and postal sector, and is also responsible for elements of the national ICT strategy such as eInclusion, Internet safety and Internet governance. As part of its mission, MCA aims to encourage citizens and business to embrace ICT as a key enabler to social and economic welfare. Among MCA’s strategic objectives are:

  • Facilitating innovation and investment in ICTs
  • Achieving widespread e-literacy, digital inclusion and the use of ICTs as at tool to improve quality of life for all citizens in particular, disadvantaged groups
  • Encouraging the use of e-Business models by local enterprises as a means to improve competitiveness
