ANBPR is the most representative professional organization of librarians in Romania, including over 3,300 active members in 41 counties that promotes the concept of a unitary public library system at community level by providing services tailored to its users’ current needs.

ANBPR supports the public libraries to become leaders in navigating information, promoting the library as a dynamic space that inspires discovery and connection of people to knowledge and modern technologies.  The activities of the organization are focused on services that provide solutions for the social integration of the most vulnerable members of society especially those located in disadvantaged rural areas.

ANBPR has developed programs for social inclusion through digital literacy for which the main target groups are in rural areas are represented by the poor, Roma, and geographically isolated people. Through its educational projects, ANBPR meets the information needs of library users and contributes to the qualitative transformation of society by using ICT. In addition, by its undertakings in the field of training, ANBPR offers both librarians and users an organized framework for lifelong learning and study tools for quality professional education, in order to develop their career and increase their life quality.

ANBPR’s expertise, librarians’ qualification and the complex values of public libraries activities allowed establishing partnerships between ANBPR and public libraries, in their common effort to e-inclusion. Based on parent organization experience, ANBPR’s branches have already recorded, locally and regionally, many successful activities, from training to mentoring in order to participate in e-inclusion projects, to extensive digital literacy actions.
