Die Kunst VHS (The Adult Education Center for Art) offers access to art, creativity, and crafts for everyone who wants to engage in creative activities. We offer courses in drawing, painting, figure and portraiture, printmaking, sculpture, architecture, photography, film, computers and multimedia, art history and lectures, writing, applied arts and crafts, sewing and textile design, ceramics and pottery, jewelry design, bookbinding, music, vocal training and singing, modern dance, performing arts, as well as courses for children and teenagers. Those who are new to creative work are just as welcome as those with experience who want to refine their skills and abilities. All our instructors are artists who guide and support participants in their artistic development. Meeting and working with like-minded individuals creates a stimulating and pleasant atmosphere.
Our workshops offer the opportunity for intensive study of drawing/painting, photography, and writing. Those who love Vienna will find themselves right at home in the Vienna Academy of Art, a four-semester course on the history of the city of Vienna.
During semester breaks, we offer short courses and intensive workshops (“Musenkuss”), as well as a summer academy with intensive courses in June and July.
Art wants to be seen. To that end, we regularly organize exhibitions in our building and at partner venues such as the Alsergrund Library. These exhibitions not only showcase the participating artists but also serve as inspiration for artistic exploration. The highlight of the year is our open call, which invites artists throughout Vienna to exhibit their work with us each autumn.
